Prior to the luncheon, both Presidents signed several agreements to boost the bilateral relationship. Cristina expressed Argentina´s “eternal recognition” to Peru for the assistance received during the Malvinas War, when the Lima Government sent fighter planes and pilots to cooperate with the local forces.   She also said that it would be convenient to discuss, at the coming UNASUR summit in Lima next Friday, the “judicial colonialism” that is now affecting Argentina, triggered by the rulings of a New York judge who favored vulture funds that harass this country.   “It is a problem that should concern all the countries in the world, even to the developed nations that are now facing their most serious economic crisis”, Cristina said.

“The true exercise of democracy calls to listen to the minority´s voices, but also to the majorities that rule through elections and Congress”, the President stated.   “It is high time to give more depth and density to Unasur, and to set common standards in the region on investments, so those who come to invest can do it in terms of equality with the rest of the region”, said the Argentine Chief of State.   “Otherwise investments will end up being a structural disadvantage for our societies in the long run”, Cristina stated.
