Sabbatella and Tomada during the press conference.

During the ceremony, Secretary of Public Communications Alfredo Scoccimarro reminded that “in 2003 there were 28,600 workers in the audiovisual service, a number that has grown to 52,000 in 2012, as a result of a transformation process of the sector following instructions given by President Cristina Fernández”.   Minister of Labor, Carlos Tomada, thanked the presence of representatives of unions from publicity, printing, musicians, actors, news vendors cinema and journalist workers.   "We wish to ratify the commitment we always held with the conservation of the working posts, and that is why we are signing this agreement, so those who win the bids guarantee the defense of jobs”, he said.   Tomada added that the guarantee is also extended “to those who staged demonstrations before the Court Palace. Their jobs shall be preserved. With the enforcement of the Audiovisual Communications Law more jobs will be created”.   The Minister also expressed solidarity to “those workers who have been subject to an attempt to restrict their freedom of expression”, in reference to the journalists against whom Clarín filed lawsuits.   Martín Sabbatella, head of AFSCA, said that “one of the present central issues is to protect jobs, because the adaptation to the law entails inclusion and more work. We wish to make it very clear”.
